Tailormade African Safaris by the Safari Legends
It is not 100% ready yet, but it is worth talking about. There is a new hide at Scott’s Pan in our Hwange concession which is going to be an overnight sleep-out for guests who want to experience a night under our starry southern skies. Right now we are in the thick of our rainy season, so it is not the right time to venture out into the inky nights because there is a chance our guests will be left soaking in soggy linen – not as much fun as it sounds.
But what I can tell you is that the hide’s position is right where the action is for animals coming to drink at Scotts’ Pan. In the dry season, when it is the right time to be sleeping out without the risk of rain, the magical elephant experience will be taking place all night long, in front of and all around the new hide.
The bedding and comforts will be set up especially for guests who request to sleep out. There is a flush toilet being installed on the top deck. The platform may also be a popular place for brunches and sunset drinks. It is positioned so that the light from the setting sun will fall perfectly on the subject (the actual pan).
We have enjoyed many, many hours of spectacular wildlife sightings at Scott’s Pan – one evening we had elephant incoming left, and right, a whole herd of buffalo in front of us and coming from behind while a herd of wildebeest arrived backlit by the setting sun. This new hide is a wonderful addition to the Wilderness Safaris Hwange experience.
