An African Holiday to Botswana’s Linyanti Wildlife Reserve.
DumaTau Camp was one of my favourite camps in Botswana as part of my African Holiday. This intimate camp is located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve in Northern Botswana. DumaTau meaning “Roar of the Lion” has a great waterfront so the views are extremely beautiful. The camp is small and has 10 luxury tented rooms. The camp has 125,000 hectares of wilderness to traverse and borders the western boundry of the Chobe National Park.
The camp is raised, like most camps in Botswana, and the walkways make it a lot safer to walk around as there are always some inquisitive visitor lurking around whether it is a predator or a grazer. The camp is built around beautiful Mangosteen tress with the Savuti Channel close and game drives along the channel are always a treat.
The rooms are large and are under thatch with canvas walls. The bathrooms are en-suite with hot and cold running water. One also has a choice of showering outdoors which is a great feeling of pure freedom.
The main area of the camp consists of a dining room, great pub area and a lounge to relax in during the day when not on game drive or a walk. There is a plunge pool for those hot Botswana days in summer when a cool dip is what one needs.
At the end of the dry months one can get to see a fortune of Sable and Roan Antelope as well as the resident herds of Impala, Zebra, Wildebeest, Lechwe and many more other Antelope. Of course the Predators such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog are in full attendance not to mention the sly old Hyenas.
All meals and game activities are included in the rate as well as all drinks except imported brands. Oh and your Laundry will also be done at no extra charge. Now that’s what I call a Superb African Holiday.
