The outdoor ceremony

The wedding ceremony usually takes place in a dry riverbed near the lodge, although this is entirely up to the bride and groom. Sculpted over millennia by the Nhlaralumi River, surrounded by African bushveld, the location is atmospheric and romantic and there’s always the chance of seeing a herd of elephant crossing the river in the distance.

The ‘golden hour’ wedding photographs

There are few settings in the world that compare to the South African bushveld at sunset. Not only is the golden light spectacular for photographs, dusk is one of the busiest times of the day to see game – meaning resident wildlife is likely to feature in your ‘golden hour’ photographs.

The cocktail hour entertainment

Located in the heart of Mpumalanga, Kings Camp Lodge is surrounded by a wealth of culture and local tradition. An element of this rich heritage can be incorporated into your destination wedding with a performance from a group of traditional Shangaan dancers during or after cocktail hour.

Good to know:

South African law requires foreign couples wishing to be married to attend an appointment at the Department of Home Affairs before they can be legally married in South Africa. Since this is quite a cumbersome task for someone on safari, we suggest that you process all legal marriage documents in your home country and enjoy your ceremony on safari in a more traditional way.

Our Kings Camp Wedding Packages include:

  • Wedding ceremony in a dry riverbed in the heart of the bushveld.
  • Local flowers of your choice for the bridal bouquet and bridal table.
  • Sparkling wine for the bridal couple.
  • Single layer wedding cake with topping of your choice.
  • Local Shangaan dancers to perform at the ceremony or reception.
  • Wedding turndown for the bridal couple.
  • Wedding gift for the bridal couple, courtesy of Kings Camp.
