Track gorillas all year-round. Peak season for tracking is July and August, but travelling outside this time means it’s easier to arrange permits.
Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali is the perfect starting point for an unforgettable gorilla trek – one of Africa’s most fascinating wilderness experiences.
Kigali is the bustling capital city of Rwanda and home to its only international airport. Highlights for Kigali include the Genocide Memorial Center, the fruit market, lunch at the Hotel Mille Collines (of Hotel Rwand a fame) and a ride on a motorbike taxi through town.
The city was only founded in 1907 under the German colonial rule, but did not become the capital until Rwandan independence in 1962. Today it is a thriving city of 2 million people.
