DAY 1 & 2: BULAWAYO
On your arrival at Bulawayo airport you will be met by Camp Amalinda representative who will transfer you to Camp Amalinda.
Bulawayo is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, also known as the City of Kings. The city has wide tree-lined streets and is surrounded by beautiful parks — a legacy of Cecil John Rhodes. Within the city are many examples of early Victorian buildings which are maintained by the Bulawayo City council and landlords as heritage sites. Bulawayo has long been and is still regarded as the second business capital of Zimbabwe after Harare and is home to the National Railways of Zimbabwe because of its strategic position near Botswana and South Africa. It is the nearest large city to Hwange National Park, Matobo National Park and Victoria Falls.
Camp Amalinda is set amongst the spectacular Matobo Hills within the wildlife-rich Matobo National Park. Luxurious rooms cradled in huge granite boulders include comfortable beds, air-conditioning and spacious ensuite bathrooms. Guests can tuck into delicious meals around a massive teak table in the open dining room or enjoy refreshing sundowners around a crackling fire in the traditional boma. Those in need of relaxation can lounge around the inviting swimming pool and bar area overlooking a popular waterhole, whilst the energetically-inclined can head to the fully-equipped gym for an exhilarating workout. A cosy library boasting an impressive selection of vintage African Classics and a secluded chess room hidden amongst the tree tops, add to guest delight. The superb Heritage Spa spoils guests with soul-soothing massages and indulgent beauty treatments. Adventures include game drives, bush walks, birdwatching and visits to the historic caves to view the famed San rock paintings.
Spend two nights at Camp Amalinda in a Standard suite with ensuite bathroom. Your stay includes accommodation, all meals, all beverages (except premium imported spirits and champagne), two game viewing activities per day, laundry and a return transfer from Bulawayo Airport/Bulawayo town.
DAY 3, 4 & 5: HWANGE NATIONAL PARK
Today you will be privately transferred to Hwange Main Camp (approximately 3 hours), where you will be met by a representative from Somalisa for your game drive transfer into camp.
Zimbabwe’s largest national park, the elephant stronghold of Hwange is a game-rich area roughly the size of the Bahamas that was once the royal hunting grounds of the Ndebele warrior king Mzilikazi. It was proclaimed a national park in 1929. Here guests can explore a variety of landscapes, from desert sands and sparse woodland to grasslands and rocky outcrops. Vast herds of elephant and buffalo, gemsbok and packs of brown hyena can be found in this pristine slice of wilderness, which also boasts one of the largest surviving populations of wild dog.
Situated on a floodplain in the middle of Hwange National Park, Somalisa Camp boasts elegantly furnished canvas tents with ensuite bathrooms, flush toilets and romantic al fresco bush showers. The pool and the stunning guest area overlook the pan. The sitting room and dining areas are tucked under a soaring canopy of trees. Relax for three nights.
Spend three nights at Somalisa Camp in a tent ensuite bathroom. Your stay includes all meals, all beverages except premium imported spirits and champagne, two game viewing activities per day, laundry, national park fees and transfer to and from nearest airstrip.
DAY 6 & 7: VICTORIA FALLS
Early morning activity followed by breakfast before your transfer to Victoria Falls (transfer is approximately 3 hours).
A World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles and the stuff of legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone ‘discovered’ the Falls in 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘the smoke that thunders’. Livingstone named them for his queen. Today, the village rightly claims the title of Adrenaline Capital of Africa, home to a seemingly endless variety of adventure sports from bungee jumping to canoeing and white water rafting.
The magnificent Victoria Falls Safari Club perches high on a sprawling plateau, with views of unspoilt bushveld and spectacular African sunsets.
Here, on the border of the renowned Zambezi National Park, you can delight for two nights in the private haven of your room, which blends modern comforts with a sense of African history and the magnificent natural beauty of the setting.
Spend two nights at Victoria Falls Safari Club. Your stay includes Accommodation, all meals, afternoon teas, pastries, sundowner cocktails, canapes, mini bar ( beer, wine, soft drink, bottled water ), laundry, Wi-Fi, return private transfers, guided tour of the falls and sun set cruise.
