CAPE TOWN SHOPPING – HALF DAY
Tour Code: FH05
Cape Town City’s cosmopolitan flavour and cultural diversity offer the shopaholic many opportunities to snag rare treasures.
The Cape is South Africa’s clothing industry capital – many of those brought to the Cape in the 17th Century by the Dutch came with a wealth of dressmaking skills and their descendants are still very active in this industry.
We visit a leather manufacturer who produces quality leather handbags (supplying the Italian market) with local hides like Crocodile and Ostrich a favoured material. We walk through the factory to observe manufacture. Items can be custom-made for you.
See picturesque Church Street, known for its fine art and antiques, browse top African arts and crafts in the area and perhaps take in the market stalls of bustling Greenmarket Square in search of a bargain memento or funky casual wear.
Lifestyle stores, from cutting-edge to ethnic abound in the city area, and there are many outlets for jewellery, utilising fine South African gold and sought-after gemstones such as Tanzanite.
Inclusions: Specialist Shopping Guide, Bottled Water. Excluded: Lunch.
