An unforgettable, privately guided African Safari in the heart of Botswana’s spectacular landscapes
This incredible, privately guided, Botswana safari will offer you the opportunity to have your very own guide who will accompany you throughout your journey. Daryl Dell is a Grade 2 walking assessor, which means that when he joins you on a guided walking safari, with your Botswana guide, you will receive an holistic and interpretive experience. He has also climbed the ranks of &Beyond from head ranger, specialist guide and now private guide. He has a wealth of destination knowledge, from the overall state of the country to the specific flora and fauna you will find in its sprawling wildlife areas. As a keen photographer, he enjoys swapping tips with guests and capturing extraordinary sightings.
This adventure is perfect for families, first-time visitors and repeat guests. It will take you to two of Daryl’s favourite landscapes within Botswana, the Chobe National Park and the iconic Okavango Delta. Daryl will help you tailor-make your journey by offering a range of activities specifically designed for these two magnificent regions as well as other adventures that are slightly off the beaten track. He will also ensure that all of your travel arrangements (from transfers to scheduled flights) run seamlessly.
7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS
This itinerary has been carefully designed to give you a taste of the exciting, endless possibilities you can experience on a privately guided adventure and can be tailored to suit your exact preferences.
DAY 1, 2 & 3 CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
On arrival at Kasane Airport you will be warmly welcomed by an &Beyond representative, who will transfer you to Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero. Daryl Dell, your &Beyond Private Guide will meet you at the Lodge.
Your privately guided safari begins in Botswana’s famous Chobe National Park, a must-see wildlife destination that includes the Savute Channel and natural beauty of the Linyanti River. Chobe covers almost 11 000 km² (6 836 square miles), was the country’s first national park and boasts the biggest concentration of wildlife in Africa as well as excellent birding opportunities. As a keen birder (Daryl is registered as a FGASA SKS Birder and Assessor), he has logged over 3000 species worldwide and relishes sharing his knowledge of the rich diversity in the region. The Chobe National Park is best known for its large numbers of Kalahari elephants, probably the biggest continuous elephant population in the world, currently numbering around 120 000.
Spend three nights at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero in a luxury cottage with private garden and ensuite bathroom with bath, indoor and alfresco shower. Your stay includes all meals, all game viewing activities, park fees, laundry services, emergency medical evacuation, all beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic with the exception of premium brands) and return airport transfers from Kasane Airport.
Adventures include game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, safari and sundowner cruises on the river and day trips to Victoria Falls.
Daryl Dell will work with you every day to plan your ideal schedule for the duration of your journey. We highly recommend a privately guided birding adventure in this region.
DAY 4; 5 & 6 OKAVANGO DELTA
After a scrumptious breakfast, you will be driven to Kasane Airport, where Daryl will help you with your luggage as you board a scenic light aircraft flight to the Okavango Delta. Get to know the many moods of this magnificent ecosystem, with exceptional game viewing on the golden floodplains and excellent photographic opportunities of the maze of crystal clear lagoons and channels that are interspersed with reeded islands.
The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta and a miracle of nature. This paradisiacal oasis of islands and waterways flowers in the middle of the arid Kalahari Desert. This remarkable region is a Wetland of International Importance (RAMSAR site) due to its unique ecosystem. Most visitors to Botswana rate the Okavango Delta as the highlight of their trip and it is not hard to see why – in terms of pristine beauty, remote location and rich diversity of animal and bird life, the Okavango Delta is unbeatable. As a qualified level 2 walking assessor, Daryl can add to the incredible insight you’ll receive on a walking safari accompanied by a Botswana registered guide.
Spend three nights at &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge (winner of the 2015 Hospitality Design Awards and We Are Africa Innovation Awards) in a suite with an ensuite bathroom with outdoor shower, flush toilets and secluded plunge pools. Private fireplaces warm the African nights once the sun goes down. Cleverly constructed, indoor and outdoor lounging places create cosy nooks ideal for private dining beneath the stars. An interactive kitchen and interpretive naturalist library encourage guests to become one with the surroundings and to enjoy every aspect of the Delta experience.
Adventures include game drives which will be led by Daryl, who will tell you about the flora of the region and the behaviour of the animals you come across. There are a great opportunities to witness nocturnal animals such as aardvarks, aardwolves, lions, hyena, leopards and servals. You will also be able to enjoy a 45-minute helicopter flight over the spectacular Okavango Delta.
