The story of Naledi, the elephant calf born into the Abu Herd in 2013 and orphaned just a few weeks later when her mother Kiti died of natural causes, captivates and inspires everyone who meets her. Hand-reared by the elephant care team at Abu Camp, there were times when it seemed that she might not make it. But she did, and in some style. Naledi is now a rambunctious, loving (and ever-growing) calf, who has been fully accepted into the Abu Herd and is leading the life of a normal young elephant, with the emphasis on having fun and exploring the world around her. This includes making as many new friends as possible – especially among human visitors to Abu Camp. And with her wonderful personality, this never takes long!
