The Serengeti stretches out west of Africa’s Great Rift Valley in a series of vast plains, forming a landscape traversed by millions of zebra and wildebeest, as well as huge herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe and antelope. The spectacle of the annual migration is a popular reason to visit this iconic safari destination but high numbers of game, both great and small, make the Serengeti their home all year round. Singita Explore, an exclusive-use mobile tented camp which forms part of our Singita Private collection, is perfectly placed to take full advantage of this incredible location, offering visitors an unforgettable wildlife experience, any time of the year.
From the very start, your specific needs and interests dictate your experience at the camp and with a full private staff on hand, anything is possible. You have complete freedom to determine the day’s events, and experience the Serengeti on your own terms. Being immersed in this unique landscape and experiencing a safari in this way is nothing short of life-changing.
In the apparent infinity of these ancient grasslands, Singita Explore offers a return to the simplicity and authenticity of safari life, giving you an opportunity to reconnect with nature and each other. Spend a morning watching the sunrise from your tent followed by a late breakfast cooked for you on an open fire – days and nights here at Singita Explore are enjoyed at your own pace.
The khaki tents are as romantic as they are practical – with en suite bathrooms and luxurious interiors, comfort is guaranteed. The canvas evokes that classic safari atmosphere and protects you from the elements without becoming a barrier to the experience. In line with Singita’s commitment to sustainability, the camp is run completely off the grid. The use of solar power and the environmentally sensitive design of the camp means minimal energy consumption with the least possible ecological impact. It is a shining example of Singita’s commitment to long-term conservation of our planet and its wildlife, and something which allows guests to interact more intimately with Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas.
As with all of the Singita Private properties, the day is yours to make of what you will. A private game vehicle with a dedicated guiding team allows you to choose what time to head off into the reserve on a game drive, and the remote location of the camps means you’ll have the bush to yourself. You are likely to spot a variety of game, like cheetah, bearded wildebeest, bat-eared fox, Maasai giraffe, lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Each encounter will allow you to observe these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. As close to nature as you can get, and a celebration of the ultimate luxuries of the modern world – space, solitude, freedom and tranquility.
Singita Explore was specifically designed to take advantage of the changing landscape and wildlife activity. There are 350,000 acres of untouched wilderness to explore at Singita’s Grumeti reserve in northern Tanzania, an ecosystem that was near-barren prior to the establishment of the Singita Grumeti Fund.
