Africa’s tourism industry is intrinsically linked to the health of its iconic wildlife populations and their captivating landscapes. In fact, lions are frequently ranked as the number one animal tourists most want to see on safari. So, who better to engage in lion conservation than travel operators, safari companies, and their clients?

In March of 2019, the LRF formed the Lionscape Coalition, a new initiative that is good for lion recovery as well as for business. The Lionscape Coalition allows Africa’s top tourism operators to take a leadership position to support on-the-ground conservation work and encourage clients to support the future of lions.

Each year, members provide a philanthropic investment into the LRF for impact in landscapes where tourism operates and in areas beyond their areas of operation, so that parts of Africa off the beaten tourist track can benefit. The Lionscape Coalition will not only raise funds for lion conservation, but will help educate more people about the plight of lions and empower the travel industry to play an even bigger role in conservation.

The Silo

The Silo is a magical space towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City. The Silo hs 28 rooms, including a spectacular penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture.

The 6 room categories are based on the room size and the views. The rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally due to the unique architecture of The Silo and in particular the ingenious design of the pillowed window bays which are one of the key architectural features.

The building has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of pillowed glazing panels, inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors, which will bulge outward as if gently inflated. By night, this transforms the building into a glowing lantern or beacon in the harbour.

Little Mombo Camp

Little Mombo is an extension of and shares the same island as the larger Mombo Camp, matching its high standards. Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp

andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the Serengeti National Park on a by-water of the Grumeti River, known for its dramatic wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles. Every year, in June and July, Africa’s renowned Great Migration passes through the Grumeti region and hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores cross the Grumeti River.
