Honeyguide Tented Camps in the Manyeleti

Honeyguide Tented Camps – Bordering the Kruger National Park and situated between the Timbavati and the Sabi Sand Reserves lies the 23 000 hectare Manyeleti Game Reserve. Manyeleti means, “The Place of the Stars” in the local Shangaan language. The Manyeleti Reserve is home to two tented camps, Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp and Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp. The camps offer breathtaking wildlife experiences at the same time as pampering the senses with meticulous service and superb cuisine. Morning and evening game tracking drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles bring you into close contact with the Big Five as well as the other aspects of our wildlife, and allows you to leave us with an unforgettable safari experience. Highly experienced guides will take you on foot to bring into clear focus the magic of the bush with its myriad of busy insects and resplendent birdlife. Our Children’s Safaris at Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp offer families with children the rare chance to experience the Big Five.

Khoka Moya

Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp is situated on both sides of a riverbed, and offers an authentic African experience without sacrificing luxury, safety or comfort. Simply designed and built of corrugated iron, the large colourful lounge and dining areas of the camp overlook green lawns leading to the swimming pool. Honeyguide Khoka Moya comprises 12 large tents furnished in a contemporary yet comfortable style. Each tent is en-suite with king sized bed with a double shower and separate toilet. A private outdoor seating area in front each tent allows guests to relax and take in sights and sounds of the bush. Honeyguide Khoka Moya welcomes children of all ages (see Family Safaris). The rates at Honeyguide Tented Camps include accommodation, activities, all meals and all beverages excluding bar account. The large tents at Khoka Moya measure some 60 square meters and can comfortably house a family of four, all under the protection of mosquito nets.

Mantobeni

Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp is designed to reflect Hemingways’ Africa. The 12 Nehru-styled tents are nestled in a Tamboti grove overlooking a dry river bed. The reception areas comprise a large sitting area, indoor and outdoor areas, bar and climate controlled wine cellar. Game visiting the nearby watering hole can be seen from the swimming pool deck adjoining the reception areas. The tents are comfortably furnished with king-sized beds and soft leather couches. Each tent leads onto its own bathroom with concrete bath, double shower and separate toilet. Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp only accommodates children over the age of 12 years (for younger children, see Family Safaris). The rates at Honeyguide Tented Camps include accommodation, activities, all meals and all beverages excluding bar account.

Activities

Guests awake at first light to the sound of beating drums. The next sound it that of footsteps as waiters serve tea coffee or fruit juice in the tents. A morning safari in an open game drive vehicle led by an experienced guide and tracker for about 3 hours traversing part of the large Manyeleti concession. During the drive, you will stop for tea or coffee and light refreshments. On return to camp, you will have time to freshen up before enjoying a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, guests are invited to join a short foot safari to explore the small wonders of the bush with an emphasis on the abundant bird, insect and plant life in the proximity of the camps. For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 years may not go on foot safari outside the camp perimeters. However a variety of activities including a guided walk within the camp′s perimeters will be available for them to enjoy. Guests may also choose to relax at the pool, browse through the small library or retire to their tents. The afternoon begins with a three-course lunch served in the dining area. After lunch, guests will have time to return to the tents to collect their jackets, cameras and binoculars in preparation for the afternoon game drive. The afternoon game drive will take about 3 hours. Guests are reminded to take warm clothing as the drive continues into the night enabling guests to experience the sounds of the night and affording a view of the nocturnal animals. During the afternoon game drive, guests will stop at suitable spot for sundowners with full bar and light refreshments.

Family Safaris at Honeyguide Tented Camps

Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp welcomes children of all ages. Parents wishing to visit a luxury private camp in the greater Kruger National Park area are able to have the peace of mind that their children are included in the day′s activities. The children’s program includes activities, supervised by the camp staff, where younger children can engage in a variety of activities including colouring-in, bead-making and cookie-making in the kitchen. For older children, we plan treasure hunts or short guided walks around the circumference of the property to take in the small wonders of the bush. There are also some basic sporting implements such as soccer and cricket. While the activities tend to focus on nature and are mostly based outdoors, in the event of cold weather there is a children′s room with a small library and a collection of DVDs. Children are welcome to go on drives with their parents. The large tents at Khoka Moya measure some 60 square meters and can comfortably house a family of four all under the protection of mosquito nets. We appreciate that children often have different dietary requirements so we are able to provide alternative dishes for chidlren, with food such as pasta, fish fingers, hamburgers, hotdogs and ice-cream. Our rate for children under the age of 12 years is 50% of the adult rate and is based on the child sharing a tent with the adult. There is no charge for children under the age of 2 years.

Please Note: The children’s program is at Khoka Moya camp only and not at Mantobeni camp (the sister camp to Khoka Moya) which only takes children over the age of 12 years, such older children being recognized and charged as adults.
