Duba Plains Camp in the Okavango Delta

Duba Plains Camp is one of the most remote camps in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Located on a tree-covered island in a 30,000 hectare concession known as the Kwedi Reserve, The Camp is a small, intimate camp renowned for its unrivalled access to the titanic struggle for survival between lion and buffalo.
Accommodation consists of six roomy tents with en-suite bathrooms, outside showers and verandas with panoramic vistas of the Okavango Delta floodplains. The thatched lounge, dining and bar areas are raised along with the pool on wooden platforms to better appreciate the breathtaking views.
A luxury African safari starts by tracking down one of the mammoth buffalo herds to see whether the lions are on the prowl.
But Duba Plains Camp has more to offer than just lion and buffalo, with herds of elephant feeding on the islands and hippo wading out into the deeper channels. Tsessebe and blue wildebeest dot the plains, while red lechwe are found on the fringe of the wetter floodplains. Spotted hyena can also be seen in their own age-old conflict with the lions.
Birdlife is abundant and impressive in the Okavango Delta, with Rosy-throated Longclaw, Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane often sighted.

Duba Plains Camp Game Viewing
The Camp is located in one of the most isolated regions of the Okavango Delta, Botswana, on a private 30,000 hectare concession known to the locals as the Kwedi Reserve.
Situated on one of the low, sandy islands common to this region, it is surrounded by a wide variety of landscapes. From vast open floodplains and grasslands which are often isolated from the mainland by deep waterways to dense mopane bushveld and savannah. Guests experience spectacular game viewing and birding all year round.
The Okavango Delta has this rich diversity of habitats and lush fertile grasses as a result of year-round availability of water, with the summer rains and winter floods stimulating the environment and supports an abundance of wildlife which is unique even to the pristine and scenic backdrop of the iconic Okavango Delta.
Every aspect of the wildlife is fascinating. The region has two prides of lions which compete in the hunt every day. The battle for survival between the lions is as stirring as the plight of the thousands of buffalo. When the lions hunt by day they provide guests with incredible photo opportunities.
Aardwolf sightings are one of the specialities along with the occasional glimpse of caracal. Red lechwe, elephant, tsessebe and warthog share this savannah landscape and hippo concentrate in the deeper channels. The area often has productive spotted hyena dens that offer unique hyena pup viewing, whilst leopards can be found on the forested islands.
Most of the Okavango Delta’s renowned birdlife can be found including the Swamp Boubou, Hartlaub’s Babbler and Swamp Nightjar. During the annual flooding the abundance of waterbirds is simply astounding – with a multitude of herons, egrets, lapwings and jacanas on show.
